25 Years EuroISPA
eco is a founding member of the European umbrella Internet Service Providers Association, EuroISPA, which has its headquarters in Brussels, and which has been actively representing the interests of its members at the European level since 1997.
The members meet regularly in seven expert committee groups and at quarterly general assemblies, in order to both exchange information and views on national and European developments and to develop position papers and statements. In 2022, it was once again possible for the general assemblies to meet primarily on-site. The representatives of the various national associations met in Amsterdam, Helsinki and Brussels to exchange views. In November, the Board was newly elected. eco was represented by Thomas Bihlmayer, who once again took on the treasurer role.
In the year under review, EuroISPA focused primarily on the topics of cybersecurity and e-evidence. One of the predominant topics was also the Digital Services Act, whose negotiations were concluded in 2022. A new focal point emerged as the proposed “Regulation on laying down rules to prevent and combat child sexual abuse” (the CSAM Regulation).
