Data Center Expert Summit
On 8 and 9 June, the second Data Centre Expert Summit took place on the premises of the “Helmholtzzentrums für Schwerionenforschung” in Darmstadt. The event was a resounding success, with a turnout of 120 participants, 26 speakers, eleven event partners and four moderators.
On 8 June, the participants had the exclusive opportunity to visit the premises of the research centre with the FAIR accelerator ring and the GreenCube test computing centre. Later in the evening, attendees had the chance to cultivate new and old connections at a social gathering in the nearby Forsthaus Kalkofen.
On 9 June, the conference day was launched by eco’s Managing Director Alexander Rabe together with Prof. Paolo Giubellino, Director at GSI Helmholtzzentrum. The agenda of the congress focused on three key topics: “Sustainability goals 2027/30 – how data centres can become climate neutral”, “From hyperscale to HPC to EDGE – why we need a holistic view of digital ecosystems”, as well as “Data centre as an economic factor – what role data centres play in digital transformation”.
In addition to panel discussions with high-profile industry experts, the agenda was enriched by numerous keynotes and best practice presentations on the individual topics. Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback received for the event format, preparations are already underway for a follow-up next year.
